Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly lost a $50,000 wager following Nigeria’s dramatic semi-final clash with Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The singer had placed a bet predicting that both Nigeria and Morocco would score during regulation time, a bet that, if it had succeeded, could have returned him $348,274.07.
However, the match ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, with neither side managing to find the net.
Morocco ultimately triumphed 4–2 in the ensuing penalty shootout, securing their place in the AFCON final and leaving Davido’s bet unsuccessful.
The high-stakes wager quickly caught the attention of social media users, adding to the wave of reactions following Nigeria’s exit from the tournament.
Despite the loss, Davido has not issued any public comment regarding the outcome of his bet.
With the semi-final defeat, Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 journey has come to an end, while host nation Morocco advances to face Senegal in the final.
