Inter Milan strengthened their grip on the Serie A summit with a 2-0 victory against Parma, thanks to goals from Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram.
The win moves the Nerazzurri four points clear at the top, following Napoli’s 2-2 draw with Verona earlier on Wednesday.
Cristian Chivu’s former club offered stiff resistance, but Inter’s depth proved decisive.
Alessandro Bastoni was rested, while Nicolo Barella, Francesco Acerbi, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Thuram were introduced from the bench, yet the champions still controlled the game.
The first half saw three shots hit the woodwork, Yann Bisseck and Francesco Pio Esposito for Inter, and Jacob Ondrejka denied by Yann Sommer at the other end.
Inter eventually broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when Dimarco’s near-post finish, initially ruled out for offside, was awarded after a VAR review.
In the second half, Petar Sucic squandered a clear one-on-one opportunity, but the visitors sealed the victory in stoppage time.
Thuram capitalized on a precise through ball from Barella to make it 2-0, shortly after Bonny had a disallowed goal for handball in the buildup.
The win marks Inter’s sixth consecutive Serie A triumph, their 14th victory from 18 matches this season, a milestone they have only reached six times in their history and five times in the three-points-per-win era. Only the 2006-07 side managed more wins (15) at this stage.
Offensively, Inter have scored at least 40 goals after 18 games in five of the last six campaigns, matching their total output from the previous 70 top-flight seasons combined.
Dimarco continues to shine, contributing eight goal involvements (three goals, five assists), tying him with Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo for the most productive defender across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
