Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles have reportedlywarned that they will not head to Marrakech for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations clash against Algeria unless all unpaid match bonuses are cleared by the Nigeria Football Federation.
A dependable source within the camp revealed this development to Vanguard, noting that both players and team officials are still owed bonuses earned during the tournament.
The source disclosed that victory bonuses from four matches, against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Mozambique, remain unsettled despite the team’s continued progress in the competition.
Although the squad is determined to stay focused on their AFCON campaign, they have drawn a firm line, insisting they will neither train nor travel for the quarter-final fixture until the outstanding entitlements are paid.
This situation mirrors a similar standoff in November, when the Super Eagles threatened to boycott their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Gabon over unpaid allowances.
At the time, the players and officials issued a joint statement explaining their decision to halt preparations.
“The full squad, including officials, withheld from training today in Morocco because of unresolved issues with outstanding payments. The Super Eagles are awaiting a quick resolution to continue preparations for Thursday’s game with Gabon,” the statement said.
