Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed five suspected terrorists and rescued three abducted civilians during a joint military offensive in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, was conducted in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force at a strategic crossing point along the Sojiri axis of the local government area.
Confirming the development, the Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force, North-East, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the troops engaged the terrorists in a coordinated assault that led to their neutralisation.
According to him, the operation was executed without any casualty on the side of the troops, a development he described as a reflection of the professionalism and operational efficiency of the security forces.
“Our troops decisively engaged the terrorists and successfully neutralised five of them without sustaining any casualty. This underscores the high level of training, precision and combat readiness of the forces,” Uba said.
He added that three civilians who had been abducted by the terrorists were rescued during the operation, while arms and other items were recovered from the scene.
“Items recovered include AK-47 rifles and other materials used by the terrorists,” he noted.
Uba explained that the operation forms part of the sustained offensive by Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist networks in the North-East while ensuring the safety of civilians.
He further stated that despite evolving security challenges, the morale of the troops remains high and the military continues to maintain dominance across the theatre of operations.
Meanwhile, in a related development, troops of the Nigerian Army under the 12 Brigade have killed three bandits and arrested a suspected logistics supplier during patrols and ambush operations in Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
The operations, conducted on January 3, followed intelligence reports on the movement of bandits from the Adankolo area towards Agbadu Bunu.
Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the troops recovered arms and ammunition during the encounters, including AK-47 rifles, magazines and several rounds of ammunition.
