Christmas carries lessons Nigeria urgently needs – Atiku

Former Vice President,Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to set aside their differences and work towards national unity as Christians across the country mark the 2025 Christmas celebration, describing the period as a vital time for reflection and healing.

In his Christmas message, Atiku conveyed warm greetings to Nigerians, especially Christians celebrating the season, while emphasizing that Christmas carries lessons Nigeria urgently needs at this point in its journey.

“Christmas is a solemn reminder of the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and compassion; values that Nigeria urgently needs at this moment in its history,” he said.

He stressed that the season should not be viewed only as a time of festivity, but as an opportunity for citizens to rebuild strained relationships and reinforce the bonds that unite the nation beyond ethnic, religious, or political divides.

The former Vice President also encouraged Nigerians to engage in deep personal reflection and prayer for the country, noting that peace, justice, and renewed hope are essential in confronting Nigeria’s current challenges.

“I urge Nigerians to use the season not merely for celebration, but for quiet reflection and prayer, seeking divine guidance for peace, justice, and renewed hope for the country,” he added.
