Côte d’Ivoire striker Sébastien Haller will miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a hamstring injury.
The former West Ham forward picked up the injury during FC Utrecht’s league clash last weekend.
The Ivorian Football Federation confirmed on Friday that the setback will rule Haller out of the tournament.
He has been replaced by Evann Guessand.
“Guessand, who plays for Premier League club Aston Villa, was initially named on the reserve list,” the federation added.
Haller had scored the decisive goal in Côte d’Ivoire’s 2-1 triumph over Nigeria in the last AFCON final.
The defending champions are drawn in the same group as Mozambique, Cameroon, and Gabon.
Emerse Fae’s squad will begin their title defence against the Mambas of Mozambique next Wednesday.
