Chelsea booked their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals with a 3–1 victory over Cardiff City on Tuesday night, inspired by a brilliant double from Alejandro Garnacho and a late strike by Pedro Neto.
The contest remained deadlocked at 0–0 through the first half before Garnacho finally broke the stalemate in the 57th minute. Cardiff responded positively and drew level 18 minutes later when David Turnbull found the net to make it 1–1.
Just as the tie appeared headed for extra time, Neto fired Chelsea back in front eight minutes from the end.
Garnacho then wrapped up the win with his second goal of the night, sealing a convincing 3–1 scoreline for the Blues.
Attention now shifts to the remaining quarter-final fixtures on Wednesday, with Manchester City set to face Brentford, while Newcastle United host Fulham at St James’ Park.
