The FBI has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the “identification, arrest, and conviction” of the suspect behind the deadly shooting at Brown University, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
The move comes as investigators released new images and video footage of a person of interest linked to Saturday’s attack, which left two students dead and nine others injured.
Authorities had earlier detained a man described as a person of interest, but he was later released after being ruled out of the investigation.
In a post on X, Patel shared the images while appealing to the public for assistance, as law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to track down the suspect. With no one currently in custody, officials have launched a wide-ranging search.
Despite the setback, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said during a Monday briefing that investigators are making “steady progress” in the case.
Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez also acknowledged the scale of the probe, describing it as “very complex” and noting that it remains “all hands on deck,” with multiple agencies collaborating.
Alongside the images, the FBI issued a physical description of the suspect, saying he is “approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build.”
