Accord Party faction rejects Adeleke, declares Bamigbola Osun gov’ship candidate

Just four days after Governor Ademola Adeleke was declared the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, a rival faction of the party conducted its own primary, producing Mr. Clement Bamigbola as their choice for the 2026 Osun State election.

The party, under the leadership of Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem, had earlier, on Wednesday, held a primary that saw Governor Ademola Adeleke emerge as its candidate.

However, a section of the party rejected Adeleke’s candidacy, arguing that “Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem is not a legally backed National Chairman of the party.”

In a new development, on Sunday, 300 delegates representing the Accord Party across Osun State gathered at Regina Suite, Osogbo, to elect a candidate for their faction.

During the exercise, conducted through a voice vote by the delegates and the electoral committee, “Mr. Olufemi Ogundare was pronounced elected as the candidate of the party for the 2026 poll.”
