Bologna extended their remarkable unbeaten streak on the road to seven matches across all competitions after earning a 1-1 draw against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A.
Thiago Motta’s side came flying out of the blocks, with Riccardo Orsolini striking the side-netting in the opening minute before Gustav Isaksen forced a sharp save from Federico Ravaglia.
The Lazio goalkeeper was called into action again soon after, denying Jens Odgaard when the Danish forward pounced on a misplaced backpass.
Despite Bologna’s early pressure, Lazio struck first. Mattia Zaccagni, fresh from firing the winner in the Coppa Italia semi-final against AC Milan, saw his initial effort pushed out by Ravaglia, but Isaksen reacted quickest to bury the rebound.
The visitors hit back almost instantly. Nadir Zortea’s low drive was tipped onto the post by Ivan Provedel, only for Odgaard to react fastest and steer home the equaliser, continuing Bologna’s trend of going into the break level in eight of their last nine outings.
Chances were fewer after the restart, though Matteo Guendouzi came close to restoring Lazio’s lead with a precise strike that Ravaglia brilliantly palmed away.
The Bologna keeper again came to the rescue to deny Matteo Cancellieri with a superb reflex stop.
Lazio’s momentum was halted when Mario Gila received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Santiago Castro. Even with 10 men, the hosts tried to find a winner but Bologna’s resilience held firm.
The draw halts Lazio’s run of four straight home victories, while Bologna, beaten just once in 15 matches in all competitions, remain firmly in the hunt for a Champions League place, sitting only two points off the top four.
