Retired General Christopher Musa, recently appointed as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, formally took over duties on Friday at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.
Musa’s appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday followed the resignation of former Defence Minister, Muhammed Badaru, and received Senate confirmation on Thursday.
The former Chief of Defence Staff, who served between 2023 and 2025, is widely regarded for his strategic leadership in counterterrorism and military reform.
His return to the ministry has drawn positive reactions from defence analysts and stakeholders.
Gen. Musa arrived at the ministry around 11:10 a.m., where he inspected the quarter guard in line with military tradition before exchanging greetings with service chiefs and senior officials.
He immediately proceeded into a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and directors of the ministry, signalling the beginning of his new role.
