Super Eagles’ Fredrick suffers knee injury

Belgian Pro League side, FCV Dender, have announced that Benjamin Fredrick has returned to Brentford to begin treatment after picking up a knee injury.

The centre-back suffered the setback during training shortly after rejoining the squad from international duty with Nigeria.

The 20-year-old is now expected to miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which kicks off next month.

“Behind the scenes, we’re working hard to help our injured players recover. With this update, we’d like to keep you updated on their progress,” the club said in a statement on its official website.

“Benjamin has suffered a knee injury. He is now beginning his rehabilitation in England at Brentford.”

Since making his debut against Jamaica in May, the former youth international has grown into an important figure for the Super Eagles, starting the last six matches under Éric Chelle.

Fredrick moved to Dender on a season-long loan from Brentford during the summer.
