Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, found the net for Trabzonspor as they edged Istanbul Basaksehir 4-3 in Monday’s Turkish Super Lig clash.
The Nigerian forward struck with 14 minutes remaining to level the score at 2-2, before his team went on to secure the win.
This goal marked Onuachu’s ninth in 12 league appearances this season.
Trabzonspor’s victory propelled them to third place on the standings with 28 points, just four shy of league leaders Galatasaray.
Despite his strong form, Onuachu was overlooked for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff in Morocco, where Nigeria fell to the Democratic Republic of Congo 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw following extra time.
The Eagles had earlier defeated Gabon 4-1 after extra time in the semi-final to reach the playoff.
With the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco coming up next month, Onuachu could earn a recall.
He was part of the squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
