FCTA begins five-day promotion exams for 8,000 workers Tuesday

The Federal Capital Territory Administration will on Tuesday commence a five-day Computer-Based Test promotion examination for more than 8,000 workers across 165 cadres in the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority.

The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the exercise will run from Tuesday, November 25, to Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the National Open University Study Centre along Kubwa Road, Abuja.

“Over 8,000 civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory Administration will sit for promotion examinations this week,” Ezeh said. “The promotion examinations are scheduled to hold for five days, starting from Tuesday, November 25, to Saturday, November 29, 2025.”

Ezeh explained that the latest exercise is part of efforts approved by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to conclude the 2024 promotion cycle across all cadres.

“The FCT Minister, as part of staff motivation, approved the request of the FCT Civil Service Commission to quickly conclude the 2024 promotion exercise of FCT/FCDA workers across all cadres,” he said.

He added that the examinations will continue using the digital CBT platform recently introduced into the promotion process.

“The promotion will be conducted using the Computer-Based Test,” the chairman said. “This is a continuation of the new digital examination platform earlier approved by the minister.”

The FCTA had earlier, on August 26, released the results of its first-ever CBT promotion examination conducted on August 12, where 49 deputy directors were elevated to the rank of director across various departments.

According to officials, the ongoing digitalisation of the promotion system is aimed at clearing outstanding promotion arrears from 2023 to 2025, while ensuring transparency and efficiency in evaluating senior and junior staff.
