The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two men for alleged criminal conspiracy and motorcycle theft in Darazo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, stating that the suspects were apprehended following a report by a resident who noticed their suspicious behaviour.
“On November 1, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., a concerned citizen reported to the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters that two individuals riding red Boxer Bajaj motorcycles approached him at his garage in Kari village, asking about motorcycle dealers. Their behaviour raised suspicion,” Wakil said.
According to him, officers led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, moved to the location and arrested the suspects.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing motorcycles from different locations, including Akuyam village on September 30, 2025, and from a Juma’at Mosque in Darazo town,” the statement added.
The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Nura Yau and 25-year-old Bayero Isah, both from Akuyam village in Misau Local Government Area.
Investigations also confirmed that one of the stolen motorcycles belonged to a 50-year-old resident of Darazo, identified as Auwal Adamu.
Wakil noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
He urged residents to remain proactive in reporting suspicious movements.
“We encourage the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity. Prevention is always better than cure,” he added.
The arrest comes days after the command announced the rescue of two kidnapped victims and the arrest of suspects linked to the abduction in Bauchi metropolis.
