Three Nigerian women arrested in India for alleged drug trafficking

Indian authorities have dismantled a drug trafficking network allegedly run by three Nigerian women in Delhi, recovering quantities of illicit substances including cocaine and MDMA.

According to The Times of India, the women, identified as Precious, Gift, and Joy, were apprehended near Bakhtawar Chowk following the arrest of an Indian accomplice, Adarsh Sahu, who reportedly supplied drugs to clients across the city.

Police said Sahu’s arrest on Saturday near Green Health Pharmacy in Sector 39, Gurgaon, led to the discovery of the international drug ring.

He was found in possession of 26 grams of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

An investigating officer, quoted by local media, said, “We received credible intelligence that Adarsh Sahu from Jharsa village was involved in selling drugs. Acting on the information, our team raided his location and recovered MDMA in commercial quantity.”

During interrogation, Sahu allegedly confessed that he sourced the drugs from two Nigerian women based in Delhi. Acting on his statement, police formed a separate team that tracked down Precious and Gift, recovering 39 grams of MDMA from their possession.

Further investigation led officers to Joy, another Nigerian woman linked to the syndicate, at a rented apartment in Khanpur Extension, Delhi.

The raid on her residence yielded 22 grams of white MDMA, three grams of brown MDMA, nine grams of cocaine, an electronic weighing scale, packaging materials, and several mobile phones.

“The evidence recovered from the apartment confirms that the women were part of a larger drug supply chain operating across Delhi and other parts of India,” the officer added.

All four suspects have been remanded in police custody for further questioning as authorities continue to trace other members of the network.

The Indian police described the arrests as a major breakthrough in dismantling cross-border narcotics operations involving foreign nationals.

This incident adds to growing concerns about the involvement of some Nigerians in drug trafficking activities across Asia. Earlier this year, a Nigerian man was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, during a nightclub raid for a similar offence.

“We are intensifying surveillance and collaboration with international agencies to curb the growing menace of drug smuggling by foreign nationals,” a senior police source said.

Investigations are ongoing.
