EPL: Burnley edge Wolves 3-2

Lyle Foster came off the bench to deliver a dramatic stoppage-time winner, handing Burnley a 3-2 Premier League triumph over bottom-placed Wolves at Molineux.

The victory marked exactly six months since Wolves last tasted league success, a 3-0 win over Leicester and extended their wait for a first win this season, with the hosts conceding a late goal for the fourth consecutive game.

From the outset, the encounter carried the weight of an early-season relegation six-pointer, and Burnley capitalized on the tension in the air.

Zian Flemming broke the deadlock with his first two Premier League goals, both expertly assisted by Quilindschy Hartman, giving the visitors a comfortable two-goal cushion.

Wolves, however, refused to fold. Jorgen Strand Larsen converted a penalty, and Marshall Munetsi nodded home his first goal of the season to level matters before halftime.

The home side looked poised to snatch an unlikely victory, but Foster’s composure in the fifth minute of added time secured all three points for Burnley.

The final whistle sparked visible frustration among Wolves fans, with chants targeting players and manager Vitor Pereira, including cries of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” and “sacked in the morning.”

Strand Larsen and Pereira attempted to acknowledge the crowd, but the boos persisted.

Earlier in the game, Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was forced into a spectacular save to deny Josh Cullen’s volley, while Axel Tuanzebe’s poor touch nearly gifted Jhon Arias a chance.

Burnley’s first goal was a textbook counter, Hartman’s long ball found Flemming, who volleyed neatly into the bottom corner.

The visitors doubled their advantage when Hartman crossed for Flemming to tap in his second.

Wolves clawed their way back after Cullen fouled Santiago Bueno in the box, allowing Strand Larsen to convert the resulting penalty.

Munetsi then powered home a header from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s cross to level before halftime, giving Wolves hope.

Arias even rattled the post with a free-kick, narrowly missing the chance to complete the turnaround.

In the dying moments, as Wolves pressed for a winner, Burnley countered. Hannibal Mejbri slipped the ball through to Foster, who calmly slotted past the onrushing Johnstone, sealing a dramatic away victory and leaving Wolves’ supporters in despair.
