NRC to resumes Warri–Itakpe train service October 29

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service will resume operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, following months of suspension for maintenance and safety checks.

The corporation’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the decision to halt operations earlier in the year was to ensure improved safety, comfort, and reliability for passengers.

“The temporary suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the tracks and rolling stock,” Unyimadu stated.

“This was to guarantee the comfort, reliability, and safety of passengers.”

He explained that the online booking platform will reopen by 12 noon on Monday, October 27, two days before operations officially resume.

Passengers are encouraged to make reservations via the NRC portal — https://nrc-fane.ng — or at designated train stations.

According to the statement, operations will recommence with seven coaches, including six standard class coaches and one business class coach.

The NRC also plans to introduce a new train timetable with temporary speed restrictions to ensure safety and allow for operational monitoring.

Unyimadu also apologised to passengers and stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the suspension, expressing gratitude for their understanding during the downtime.

“The Corporation sincerely apologises to its esteemed passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the period of suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding,” he said.
