The Nigerian Railway Corporation has hailed Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua’s wedding aboard a moving train as a groundbreaking and unforgettable moment in the nation’s history.
The celebration, which has since gone viral online, caught the attention of the NRC, prompting the corporation to commend the creativity behind the ceremony in a post shared on X on Monday.
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track.
“History made, the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria.
“Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.
“At NRC, every ride tells a story,” the statement read.
Faqua and his bride, Sharon Ifunanya, an event planner, exchanged vows inside a beautifully adorned Lagos–Ibadan train, which departed from the Mobolaji Johnson Station in Alagomeji-Yaba, Lagos.
One of the train’s coaches was transformed into a charming wedding venue featuring floral decorations, bridesmaids, groomsmen, invited guests, and officiating ministers, creating a perfect blend of romance and adventure.
The extraordinary ceremony has since sparked admiration across social media, with many Nigerians praising it as a refreshing and innovative twist on traditional weddings.
Among the guests were notable celebrities, including Stan Nze and his wife Blessing, as well as actor Buchi Franklin, who came to celebrate with the couple.
