Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has marked a remarkable milestone in his career, celebrating his 300th Premier League appearance.
The 29-year-old reached the landmark during Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday, becoming the first Nigerian player in history to feature in 300 Premier League matches.
Iwobi’s achievement also places him among Africa’s elite, ranking fifth on the all-time appearance list for African players in the English top flight. Only Kolo Touré (353), Mohamed Salah (309), Wilfried Zaha (309), and Jordan Ayew (305) have made more appearances.
Reflecting on the feat, the former Arsenal midfielder expressed pride and gratitude, acknowledging the Nigerian greats who inspired him.
“It’s amazing,” Iwobi told Fulham’s official website. “It’s a big achievement, especially thinking about the likes of Shola Ameobi and my uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha, who have graced the Premier League. It’s a real honour, but I’m not done yet. I’ll keep pushing and hopefully extend the record.”
Iwobi’s consistency and longevity underline his evolution from a promising Arsenal academy graduate to one of Africa’s most enduring figures in English football.
