Bauchi gov sacks women affairs commissioner

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has relieved the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, of her appointment with immediate effect.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

According to Gidado, the decision was part of a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at repositioning the State Executive Council.

“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect,” the statement read.

He added that Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the former commissioner for her contributions to the state.

“The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to Bauchi State and wishes her success in her future endeavours,” Gidado said.

The development comes on the heels of recent disciplinary measures taken against senior government officials in the state. Last week, the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission dismissed two officials over forgery and falsification of documents.

The commission’s spokesperson, Saleh Umar, confirmed the action, noting that it contravened Public Service Rule 0327 (ii, iii, and vi).
