F’Eagles coach replaces injured player ahead U-20 W’Cup

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have had to reshuffle their squad for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after defender Marvelous Freedom suffered a knee injury during training.

Freedom sustained the setback earlier this week and consequently sat out the team’s friendly clash against Australia on Tuesday night.

In response, head coach Aliyu Zubairu has drafted in Haruna Aliyu of Wikki Tourists as a replacement.

“Aliyu is expected to arrive in Chile on Friday morning,” the report confirmed.

The squad will move to Talca City, the venue for their group-stage fixtures, on Thursday morning.

The Flying Eagles, who touched down in Chile two weeks ago for their final round of preparations, are placed in Group F alongside Norway, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.

Their campaign kicks off next week Monday with a showdown against Norway.
