IGP leads team to global security forum in China

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has arrived in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China, to participate in the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, which brings together top security leaders from around the world.

The three-day event, holding from September 16 to 18, will feature ministers, police chiefs, and law enforcement experts discussing strategies for tackling cross-border crimes.

Confirming the development in Abuja on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the IGP would deliver a keynote address on September 18.

“His presentation will spotlight Nigeria’s ongoing counter-crime initiatives, innovative policing reforms, and collaborative efforts with international partners in disrupting cross-border criminal networks and safeguarding communities,” Hundeyin said.

Ahead of the forum, Egbetokun held a bilateral meeting with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Qi Yanjun, on September 15.

The discussions, according to Hundeyin, focused on strengthening intelligence-sharing, capacity building, and enhanced cooperation between both countries.

“The Nigerian delegation will also use the forum to deepen ties with global partners, attract technical support, and showcase ongoing reforms aimed at protecting communities and securing borders,” Hundeyin added.
