BREAKING: Amusan wins Silver in World Athletics Championships 100m hurdles

World record holder, Tobi Amusan, delivered Nigeria’s first medal at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday, claiming silver in the women’s 100m hurdles.

The 27-year-old sprint queen clocked 12.29 seconds to secure second place behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who stormed to victory with a new national record.

Amusan, who set the world record of 12.12 in 2022 and has remained a dominant figure in sprint hurdles, once again proved her consistency on the global stage.

American Grace Stark settled for bronze in 12.34 seconds, edging her compatriot Masai Russell, who crossed in 12.44 for fourth position.
