Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, is set to undergo surgery after suffering a fractured collarbone in a cycling accident, the French champions confirmed on Friday.
The Spaniard was involved in a crash while riding his bike and was quickly taken to hospital by emergency services.
Medical scans revealed a broken collarbone, though doctors found no further complications. He will undergo surgery to repair the injury.
“Following a bicycle fall that occurred this Friday, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique was attended to by emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone. Paris Saint-Germain wishes to express its full support to Luis Enrique and wishes him a speedy recovery. The Club will communicate further information shortly,” the club stated on its official X account.
PSG are due to return to Ligue 1 action against Lens on 14 September, before launching their Champions League title defence three days later against Atalanta in the league phase.
Enrique, who took charge of PSG in 2023, has already enjoyed a trophy-laden spell, winning back-to-back league titles, two French Cups, and the Champions League.
He also guided the Parisians to the FIFA Club World Cup final in July.
