Paris Saint-Germain head coach, Luis Enrique, has played down his side’s chances of being labelled favourites ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool FC.
The French champions progressed from a dramatic last-16 tie last year, defeating Liverpool 4-1 on penalties after securing a 1-0 win at Anfield to overturn an identical first-leg loss in Paris.
Speaking to the club’s official website before Saturday’s Ligue 1 trip to Nice, Luis Enrique insisted that neither side holds a clear advantage heading into the high-stakes encounter.
“Are we the favourites now? I always try to weigh things up and control what is being said around the team,” he said.
“I have players who are very intelligent and know that there is no favourite and that both sides know how to handle a game like this.
“Every team wants to find the best conditions to play the competition but we can also understand the interests of other teams.”
