Brighton and Hove Albion Women have officially welcomed Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to their ranks following her triumphant return from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nationd.
The Nigerian international joins the Women’s Super League side after her contract with Paris FC came to an end.
Nnadozie’s first training session with Brighton was postponed as she was busy representing the Super Falcons at the continental tournament.
She played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s historic 10th WAFCON title, recording four clean sheets and securing the Best Goalkeeper award.
Nnadozie’s exceptional performances also earned her a spot in the Team of the Tournament.
Following her continental exploits, the 24-year-old was named among the nominees for the prestigious Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world’s best women’s goalkeeper.
She will compete for the honour alongside Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger, Spain’s Cata Coll, England’s Hannah Hampton, and the Netherlands’ Daphne van Domselaar.
Upon her arrival at Brighton, Nnadozie was greeted with Nigerian flags, applause, and a standing ovation from her new teammates and staff as she entered the dressing room.
Head coach, Dario Vidosic, praised her accomplishments and expressed his excitement about her arrival ahead of the 2024–25 WSL campaign.
“Firstly it’s important to say welcome and secondly, congratulations on a fantastic achievement to become champions of Africa, hopefully with us we can also win some silverware,” Vidosic said.
“Also, congratulations on the nomination for the goalkeeper of the year, hopefully that’s another award that will come your way. Everyone’s excited for you to be here. We’ve introduced two other girls today so now we’ve got three new ones to join us.”
“I’m sure everyone is really excited, we wish you all the best and we look forward to you putting on the Brighton gear.”
