Galatasaray vice-president, Abdullah Kavukçu, has revealed that the club went through a rigorous financial process to secure the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, without borrowing a single kobo.
Osimhen Pledges Goals After Historic Move
Victor Osimhen has officially signed a permanent deal with Galatasaray, sealing a high-profile €75 million transfer from Napoli, an amount that sets a new benchmark in Turkish football history.
The landmark deal also features a 10% sell-on clause, which applies to any future profit the club makes from a potential resale, as well as a performance-based bonus linked directly to Osimhen’s goal return.
The 26-year-old, who had a stellar loan spell with the Istanbul giants last season, was greeted by an electrifying crowd at Atatürk Airport.
Thousands of passionate fans turned out in Galatasaray colours to welcome their hero.
Visibly elated to rejoin the Turkish champions, Osimhen promised to reward the unwavering support of the fans with plenty of goals.
A Proven Goal Machine
Osimhen’s return follows an extraordinary campaign in which he netted 37 goals in 41 matches, playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s title-winning season.
His comeback is expected to significantly bolster the club’s domestic and European ambitions.
Speaking to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, vice-president Abdullah Kavukçu shared insights into how the club managed to finance the record deal.
“My president and I believed in this and started it in January. We worked hard to raise the money, without selling anything.”
“We’re paying a certain portion upfront and will cover the entire amount within a year. We said Galatasaray had the capacity to pay this, and we did it.”
“The final signings will be finalised on Thursday. Some people called us PR people. We expect those who did will pay us. The responsibility now falls on our fans.
“Galatasaray is huge! We achieved this without asking anyone for money. As for the other transfers, the fans should remain calm, believe in us, and trust us.”
Kavukçu’s comments reflect the club’s ambition and financial discipline, underlining their confidence in both Osimhen’s potential and Galatasaray’s stature in European football.
