Inter president Marotta dismisses Inzaghi exit rumours after PSG loss

Inter Milan President, Beppe Marotta, has moved to ease growing speculation over Simone Inzaghi’s future at the club, insisting there is “no cause for alarm” following the coach’s cryptic comments after their Champions League final defeat.

Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after Inter’s crushing 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Marotta, via FCInter1908, dismissed any immediate concerns about a possible managerial change.

In the aftermath of the heavy defeat, Inzaghi cast doubt over his future by saying he “doesn’t know” whether he’ll still be in charge when Inter takes part in the upcoming Club World Cup.

The 49-year-old’s remarks have since intensified speculation about a potential departure, especially with reports linking him to a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal.

Inzaghi has now completed four years at the helm, and some believe this could mark the end of his cycle at Inter, a sentiment only reinforced by Sunday’s result.

However, Marotta downplayed the significance of Inzaghi’s post-match remarks.

“He made some remarks,” the club president acknowledged. “We’ll meet with him and hear what he has to say.”

Despite the uncertainty, Marotta reaffirmed Inter’s confidence in their manager.

“We’re very proud to continue on with him,” he said. “His response means nothing. We’ll listen to him, there’s no cause for alarm.”

He also made it clear that the humiliating defeat to PSG would not dictate their decision regarding Inzaghi’s future.

“Not only does he have a contract which we’ve decided to meet with him this week about, he also deserves credit for this team’s positive cycle,” Marotta explained. “If he wants and intends to continue we’re absolutely happy to.”

Looking ahead, Marotta said Inter are focused on maintaining stability and success.

“The future is a continuation of a winning cycle of this team,” he said. “We’re meeting with the coach simply because we don’t want to have a coach on an expiring contract.”

Marotta stated, “We’d like to continue on with him by extending his contract. This cycle has worked very well, with exceptional results. There doesn’t have to be a revolution.”
