Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo’s team, Al Wehda, has been relegated from the Saudi Pro League after a 2-1 defeat to Al Ettifaq in their final match of the season.

Al Wehda entered the game needing a victory to secure their spot in the top division, but their efforts fell short. Ighalo, who had contributed six goals and two assists throughout the campaign, was unable to score in this crucial fixture.

Al Ettifaq took the lead just before halftime, with Abdullah Radif scoring in the 45th minute. Al Wehda managed to equalize through Jawad El Yamiq in the 70th minute, but despite the late surge, they conceded a decisive goal during stoppage time.

As a result, Al Wehda ended the season in 16th place with 33 points. A win would have allowed them to overtake Al Okhdood, who finished 15th, and remain in the Saudi Pro League.

Next season, Ighalo and his teammates will compete in the Saudi Arabian Division 1 after their relegation.
