The recent surge in Lithium exploration and the establishment of multi-million-dollar factories in Nasarawa State have sparked optimism that the state could pioneer electric car production in Nigeria.

Speaking on Saturday, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, expressed this optimism while outlining the key milestones of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, particularly the groundbreaking discovery of Lithium deposits, which has caught the attention of leading electric vehicle manufacturers globally.

Dr. Akabe emphasized that the existence of Lithium in Nasarawa had remained unknown until Governor Sule assumed office.

He noted that with the increasing number of Lithium processing plants springing up across the state, Nasarawa is positioned to become the first Nigerian state and potentially the first after China, to produce electric vehicles.

He praised Governor Sule’s governance style, describing him as a leader who combines transparency with fiscal discipline.

“I have never met or heard about any governor who will announce the amount of fund he receives as allocation and other refund. Just recently he announced the N9.7 billion that was refunded to the state by the federal government and went further to ask stakeholders what that money should be spent on. I have never seen this type of politic,” Dr. Akabe remarked.

At the event titled “Second-Year Impact Celebration of His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule,” Hajiya Hussaina Sule—daughter of the governor and leader of the A.A. Sule House-To-House movement—opened the proceedings by commending her father’s administration.

She revealed that although Governor Sule prefers not to be praised, his accomplishments in the last six years speak volumes.

She described him as “a role model, an unmatched achiever who has brought peace and economic development through his prudence and integrity,” adding that his legacy is one worthy of celebration.

In response, Governor Sule expressed gratitude to the organizers for assembling stakeholders from across the state to highlight the progress made under his leadership.

He credited much of the state’s current economic momentum to President Bola Tinubu’s broader national development vision.

Sule noted that the global spotlight on Nasarawa’s Lithium wealth aligns with international trends, especially among nations like China, which are leading the electric car revolution.
