Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fulfilled his recent promise to meet with veteran highlife musician Bright Chimezie.
The 30BG record label founder rolled out a red-carpet reception for the music legend upon his arrival in Lagos, with their heartwarming meeting captured on video.
The emotional moment particularly touched fans when Davido, in a show of deep respect, bowed while greeting the highlife icon.
This gesture came weeks after Davido revealed during a phone conversation with Chimezie that his recent hit collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You,” was inspired by the veteran’s classic track “Because of English.” During that call, Davido had promised to arrange a physical meeting.
Davido shared the special moment on his Instagram, posting a video that showed him personally waiting at the entrance of a building to receive Chimezie.
As the legendary musician stepped out of his chauffeured vehicle, Davido enthusiastically hailed him before bowing respectfully. The Afrobeats star then escorted Chimezie into the hotel where staff treated the veteran as the VIP guest of honor.
Accompanying the video, Davido penned a touching caption referring to Chimezie as “My Daddy,” writing: “My Daddy @officialbrightchimezie is here in Lagos.”
