Renowned Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has issued a public apology to his wife, Natasha, their children, and fans following intense criticism over his recent statement suggesting men are not biologically designed to remain sexually faithful to one woman.

The award-winning singer came under fire after a viral clip from a podcast interview surfaced online, where he made comments many interpreted as an attempt to justify infidelity.

During the podcast, 2Baba remarked, “A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman die, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with only one woman. It’s the biology of man.”

The statement triggered widespread outrage on social media, with critics accusing him of promoting infidelity under the guise of biology.

While a handful of fans described his comment as an “uncomfortable truth,” many others condemned it as disrespectful, particularly to his wife.

In response to the backlash, 2Baba posted a video on Tuesday night expressing deep regret over his words and clarifying his position.

“I know I f**ked up with what I said, and I understand why people are angry. That’s not who I am. I’m sorry to everyone I disappointed — my fans, my kids, and most especially my wife, Natasha, the love of my life,” he said emotionally in the video.

“It was an unlegendary thing to say. I let myself down.”

This is not the first time 2Baba has been at the center of public discussions regarding relationships and fidelity.

The singer, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of contemporary Afrobeats, has previously faced scrutiny over his personal life, making this latest incident yet another spotlight moment in his career.

Despite the backlash, some fans have applauded his willingness to take accountability and publicly apologise, describing the gesture as a sign of maturity and growth.

The controversy has also reignited broader conversations about gender expectations, fidelity, and cultural attitudes toward relationships in Nigeria.

2Baba is yet to confirm whether he will make any further appearances to address the issue, but for now, he has asked for forgiveness and vowed to be more thoughtful in the future.
