Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, has tendered an apology to Nigerians who were offended by her recent comments on the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the singer said she regretted the backlash that followed her earlier statement, noting that she did not intend to dismiss or undermine public concerns about the incident.
Alaseyori explained that she became aware that many Nigerians felt her comments suggested their voices and emotions were being ignored.
“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on government, parastatals and every agency,” she said. “But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard.”
She further appealed for forgiveness, especially from mothers and families affected by the abduction, insisting that her intention was never to trivialise their pain.
“You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that,” she said. “Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me.”
Earlier, the gospel singer had urged Nigerians to remain prayerful over rising insecurity in the country, while expressing confidence that authorities were working to restore peace.
The apology comes amid growing public concern over the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an incident that has continued to spark calls for stronger security responses and swift rescue efforts.
