Germany, Mexico and the United States have all booked their places in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after winning their opening two group matches, with each side securing qualification through strong early performances.
Germany national football team confirmed their spot after a 2-1 comeback win over Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday, following an earlier 7-1 opening victory against Curaçao.
The Germans showed resilience in their second Group E match after going behind to a Franck Kessié goal, but substitute Deniz Undav scored twice to turn the game around and make it two wins from two.
Those six points ensured Germany could no longer be caught outside the qualification places, guaranteeing their passage into the knockout stage with a game to spare.
In Group A, Mexico national football team also sealed early qualification after back-to-back wins.
They defeated South Africa 2-0 in their opening match before edging South Korea 1-0 in a tighter second game, giving them maximum points and an unassailable position in the group standings heading into the final round.
Similarly, in Group D, United States men’s national soccer team secured their Round of 32 place with consecutive victories, beating Paraguay 4-1 before following up with a 2-0 win over Australia.
The results ensured they also reached six points, enough to guarantee progression regardless of their final group fixture.
All three teams now head into their remaining group matches already assured of knockout-stage football, with attention turning to final group placements and potential Round of 32 opponents.
