The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has finally spoken clearly who the G-5 Peoples Democratic Party governors worked for in the just concluded presidential election.

According to Wike, while speaking on Thursday at the commissioning of Igwuruta internal roads in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, he stated that the aggrieved PDP governors did not work for the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

He said rather, the Integrity Group agreed among themselves that power must return to the south and they did it which he is proud to say.

The G-5 Governors include: Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Okezie Ikepazu of Abia state, Samuel Ortom of Benue state, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state.

Their grievance was premised on the fact that the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, was from the north, the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was also from the north, as well as the Director General of the party’s campaign team, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, was from the north.

Although, the aggrieved Governors did not publicly announce their preferred candidate(s) before the February 25 elections, apart from Ortom who had publicly declared support for Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

However, Wike, on Thursday, revealed that the G-5 Governors agreed to work for both the Labour Party and the All Progressives Congress, which both have southern presidential candidates in the persons of Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu respectively.

Wike said, “We agreed that in any state where you have control, if Labour Party comes first, APC must come second, and in any state where APC come first, Labour Party must come second.”
