Inter Milan manager, Simone Inzaghi, has offered insight into his team’s crushing 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday night.
The Italian tactician watched as his side was outclassed in Munich, with PSG cruising to victory through goals from Desire Doue, who netted twice, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu.
Reflecting on the heavy loss during his post-match interview, the 49-year-old admitted that Inter Milan failed to deliver a strong performance on the night.
“PSG deserved to win this game and the trophy,” Inzaghi acknowledged.
“We’re disappointed, but the path to this point was great. As coach, I am proud of my players.
“The game, of course, was not good enough on our part.
“We are disappointed, sad. The players gave their all,” he stated.
With this humbling defeat, Inter Milan are expected to reinforce their squad during the summer transfer window in hopes of mounting a stronger challenge for the Champions League title next season.
