Veteran midfielder, Luka Modric, has shed light on his decision to join AC Milan following his departure from Real Madrid.
The Croatian maestro completed a move to the Serie A giants shortly after Los Blancos were eliminated from the Club World Cup.
Modric has signed a one-year contract and will don the No. 14 jersey for the Rossoneri in the upcoming season.
Speaking on his move, the former Ballon d’Or winner said his desire to remain in Europe and continue competing at a high level influenced his choice.
“Why AC Milan? I wanted to stay in Europe, continue playing competitive football,” Modric said (via MadridXtra).
“I had some other offers but when Milan showed up it was clear for me.
“I was up to it since the first moment. It impressed me how they came to Croatia to present me the project and everything.
“That was very important to me. Milan is one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”
Modric is currently preparing for Milan’s pre-season clash against Arsenal, set for next Wednesday.
