Why I chose number 24 shirt at Real Madrid – Huijsen

Real Madrid’s latest signing, Dean Huijsen, has opened up about his decision to wear the number 24 jersey at the Spanish giants.

The 20-year-old Spanish centre-back, who recently made the switch from Bournemouth to the Santiago Bernabéu, was officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday.

During his presentation, Huijsen explained the reasoning behind his shirt number choice, opting for 24 rather than the iconic number 4.

“I am not thinking about the no.4 shirt or any number. Wearing any number here is an honor,” Huijsen said.

“I chose no.24 because it was available. I am delighted to wear any number here.

“Real Madrid is the club of my life. Thank you and HALA Madrid,” he added.

The number 4 shirt, currently worn by Austrian defender David Alaba, was previously donned by legendary captain Sergio Ramos, making it one of the most symbolic numbers at the club.
