Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has shed light on his heated exchange with Bafana Bafana boss, Hugo Broos, during their World Cup qualifier clash in Bloemfontein.

The tense moment unfolded in the second half at the Toyota Stadium, when both dugouts squared up to each other before match officials quickly stepped in to calm the situation.

Speaking to journalists after the game, Chelle downplayed the incident, describing it as part of the intensity that comes with football.

“There’s always tension on the touchline,” he explained. “Sometimes words don’t come out the right way, and emotions can spill over. It’s not a real fight, but you need to manage it.

“The pressure is high, and both teams want to win. Naturally, every referee’s decision won’t please one side, and that’s football.”
