Rwanda’s national team coach, Adel Amrouche, has confirmed a 24-man squad for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clashes against Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
The final list was trimmed from an initial 27 players, with Claude Smith Kayinbanda, Djabilu Ishimwe, and David Niyo missing out.
Kayinbanda was ruled out after picking up an injury in Bedford FC’s 2-1 loss to South Shields last weekend.
The Amavubi contingent departed Kigali International Airport on Tuesday morning, heading first to Lagos before connecting later in the evening to Uyo’s Victor Attah International Airport. Four players, Phanuel Kavita, Bonheur Mugisha, Jojea Kwizera, and Clement Buhake, are scheduled to link up with the team directly in Uyo.
Rwanda face Nigeria on Saturday in a Group C matchday seven fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The reverse meeting in March ended 2-0 in favor of the Super Eagles in Kigali, with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen netting both goals.
The Amavubi currently sit second in Group C with eight points from six matches, keeping alive their hopes of pushing for qualification.
