Tensions are mounting between Cameroon’s head coach, Marc Brys, and the Cameroonian Football Federation just days ahead of the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, following a dispute over the release of the national team squad.
CamerounWeb reports that Brys has already submitted his list of players for the playoff matches.
However, FECAFOOT is refusing to make it public until the Belgian coach appears in Yaoundé to announce it at a press conference.
“FECAFOOT wants a formal, publicised announcement from its headquarters, requiring the coach’s physical presence,” a source within the federation told CamerounWeb.
Brys, whose team will train in Morocco, the same country hosting the playoffs, has reportedly rejected this request.
The coach suggested that the squad could instead be revealed virtually via platforms like Zoom or Google Meet, allowing more time to focus on preparation.
The standoff has cast uncertainty over the Indomitable Lions’ preparations, with concerns that the delay could disrupt communication with players and operational planning.
“Marc Brys has no plans to travel to Yaoundé,” the report added, highlighting the coach’s priority of ensuring immediate readiness in Morocco over ceremonial duties.
The Indomitable Lions, who finished as one of the four best second-placed teams, are set to face Congo in the semi-final on Thursday, 13 November, in Morocco.
