Benin Republic captain, Steve Mounie, has revealed that the Cheetahs are fired up ahead of their pivotal encounter with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Currently leading Group C with 17 points from nine matches, Gernot Rohr’s side are determined to maintain their top spot.
South Africa trail in second place with 15 points, while Nigeria sit third on the table with 14 points.
Mounie emphasized that motivation is not an issue for his team, insisting that every player is aware of the stakes.
“I don’t think I need to push my teammates too much. We all understand what tomorrow means—it’s bigger than any one of us,” Mounie said during a press briefing.
He added, “Everyone knows what needs to be done to secure qualification. Our focus is on giving our absolute best on the pitch.”
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 PM Nigerian time.
