Zambia’s star forward, Rachel Kundananji, remains confident that the Copper Queens have what it takes to overcome the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their highly anticipated quarter-final clash at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Zambian side, led by head coach Nora Häuptle, will face the nine-time African champions on Friday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The Copper Queens will be looking to replicate their memorable 1-0 win over Nigeria from the previous WAFCON edition.

Kundananji believes her team has the talent and determination to repeat that success.

“We wanted to top the group, but unfortunately, we didn’t score enough goals. That said, we’re not bothered by our position we’re focused on the bigger goal,” the striker told FAZ Media.

Zambia wrapped up the group stage as runners-up in Group A, finishing behind tournament hosts Morocco on goal difference.

Despite not topping the group, they remain unbeaten with two victories and a draw in three matches.

Kundananji, who plies her trade in the U.S. with Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, has been in outstanding form at the tournament.

The 25-year-old has already netted three goals and claimed two Woman of the Match awards for her efforts.
