President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Super Falcons for their outstanding performance that earned them a place in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian women’s national team edged past title holders Banyana Banyana of South Africa with a spirited 2-1 victory to reach the tournament’s climax.

Goals from team captain Rasheedat Ajibade and defender Michelle Alozie secured the hard-fought win, ending South Africa’s impressive 15-match unbeaten streak in WAFCON history.

Now just one win away from clinching a record-extending 10th title, Justine Madugu’s team stands on the brink of continental glory.

Tinubu, thrilled by the team’s tenacity and excellence, showered praise on the players for their character and performance.

“Well deserved!” declared the country’s number one citizen.

“Congratulations to our Super Falcons!

“Your incredible #WAFCON2024 semi-finals victory over South Africa today was nothing short of superlative. It was a magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home. Go for our 10th title.

“Nigerians worldwide are rooting for you. We are waiting to receive the cup.”

The Super Falcons will battle either Morocco in Saturday’s final in Rabat.
