Nigeria’s Super Falcons have extended their heartfelt wishes to South African midfielder Gabriela Salgado, who suffered a serious leg injury during their semi-final clash at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday evening.

Salgado went down injured in a tightly contested match that saw Nigeria edge South Africa 2-1 at the Stade Larbi Zaouli.

Goals from Rasheedat Ajibade and Mitchelle Alozie sealed the win for the Super Falcons over Banyana Banyana.

Shortly after the match, the Super Falcons took to their official X account to express concern for the injured player.

“We wish South Africa’s Gabriela Salgado a swift and full recovery,” the team posted.

“Health comes first. Strength to you, Gabriela.”

With the win, Nigeria now advance to the WAFCON final where they will take on host nation Morocco, who booked their place after defeating Ghana in a dramatic penalty shootout.
