Morocco’s women’s national team head coach, Jorge Vilda, has said his team is mentally and tactically ready to face the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The highly anticipated title clash will take place this Saturday at the iconic Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The Super Falcons, nine-time champions of the competition, head into the final with an impressive tournament record, scoring 11 goals and conceding just once. They also boast a superior head-to-head against the Atlas Lionesses, with two wins and one defeat.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Vilda remained upbeat and undeterred.

“The psychological aspect overrides the physical one in games like this,” Vilda said.

“Nigeria has strong physical players with very outstanding players in terms of their individual qualities. They play in big leagues and have won the trophy many times.

“Nigeria have shown a lot of improvement through the tournament and overcome some very difficult teams, but we are going to face them without any inferiority complex.”

Morocco, who were runners-up in the last WAFCON edition after a 2-1 defeat to South Africa, will be aiming to make history on home soil by clinching their first continental title.
