Rinsola Babajide couldn’t hide her excitement after netting her first goal for the Super Falcons in their 3-0 triumph over Tunisia, marking a perfect start to their Group B campaign at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Tenerife winger was instrumental in Sunday’s commanding victory, contributing both a goal and an assist in the dominant performance.

Babajide got the ball rolling early in the fourth minute, delivering a dangerous set-piece that was finished off by captain Asisat Oshoala to give Nigeria the lead.

Just before the halftime whistle, Babajide got on the scoresheet herself. Picking up the ball on the left flank, she surged into the penalty area and fired a low effort past the Tunisian goalkeeper at her near post to double the Falcons’ advantage.

Elated by her performance, the 27-year-old took to her X account to celebrate her milestone moment in national colours.

“A dream start & debut! Over the moon to have scored my first international goal for my country WHAT A FEELING!!! Thank you God for giving us this day,” she wrote.

Babajide first joined the Super Falcons setup in October 2023 and made her debut on the 25th of that month, starting in a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in a 2024 Olympic qualifier.

Though now representing Nigeria, Babajide previously donned England colours, being part of the Under-20 squad that clinched bronze at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

She was also invited to a senior England training camp in September 2020.

The former Liverpool forward has played for several clubs in England, including Millwall Lionesses, Watford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Liverpool. She moved to Spain in 2023, signing a two-year contract with UD Tenerife.
