VIDEO: ‘RCCG pastor steals $8,000, abandons wife, remarries in US’

A shocking revelation has emerged from the Redeemed Christian Church of God as Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, disclosed that a pastor of the church absconded with $8,000 meant for missions, abandoned his wife, and remarried in the United States.

Pastor Folu made this disclosure during her ministration at a men’s programme organised by the church, a video of which has since gone viral.

According to her, the pastor, who hails from Ekiti State, was stationed in Cape Town, South Africa.

During one of her missionary visits to the city, she was scheduled to preach at the RCCG parish under his care. To her surprise, the service was held inside an eatery.

While she was still ministering, a woman entered and began packing up chairs, effectively signalling that the worship time was over.

The unexpected interruption prompted her to inquire why the church was using such a venue.

Disturbed by the incident, she asked the pastor what it would take to acquire a permanent worship site. He informed her that an initial sum of $8,000 would be enough to kick-start a process towards purchasing a permanent location.

The pastor proposed using the money to buy a fairly used vehicle that would be handed over to a tourism company in South Africa.

The returns from the tourism venture, he claimed, would then be reinvested to purchase a permanent church site.

Pastor Adeboye, impressed with the plan, provided the $8,000.

However, the pastor had other intentions. Instead of using the money as proposed, he disappeared, leaving his wife behind in South Africa and relocating to the United States, where he went on to marry another woman.

Pastor Adeboye recounted the incident, lamenting the state of the abandoned wife, “The woman she abandoned in South Africa is presently in a terrible state now, almost running mad.”

She continued with a stern charge to the men of the church, “RCCG men, what are we going to do?

“Are we going to continue with such a lying spirit, a deceitful spirit to the God of the kingdom?

“That is why we have this landmark meeting.

“We must go back to the old path where we look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

“We must get to the point where we say wherever He leads, we follow.”

Reflecting on the humble beginnings of the RCCG’s Redemption City, she added, “We were in this bush (referring to Redemption City on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway).

“For three years, there was no light. We went back to the days of the lantern, and we were grinding with stone, whereas where we were coming from, we had grinding machines, we had washing machines.”

The incident has sparked renewed calls within the church for a return to accountability, integrity, and spiritual discipline among its leaders.
