Former Manchester United defender, Antonio Valencia, has expressed his admiration for Trent Alexander-Arnold, saying he would welcome the England international at Old Trafford.
Alexander-Arnold ended his two-decade spell with Liverpool last summer, joining Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract.
However, the move has not gone entirely as planned, with reports suggesting the right-back is unhappy in Spain and feels undervalued despite making 14 league starts last season.
The situation could become even more complicated following the arrival of new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who is reshaping the squad.
The club has already strengthened its defensive options with the signing of Denzel Dumfries, raising questions about Alexander-Arnold’s long-term role in the team.
Speaking to Hajper, Valencia said Manchester United would be an ideal destination for the former Liverpool star.
“Trent is a player I like a lot. He has a very good right foot, he crosses well, and he is a player who defends well.
“He would be very good for Manchester United. He knows the Premier League. He knows what it means to win the Champions League and the Premier League. He is a passionate player, and I would like to see him at Manchester United.
“Hopefully it could happen, because we need players like that at Old Trafford. To play at that stadium, you need people with a lot of personality.”
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has been given additional time to consider his future after being omitted from the latest England squad.
The defender was also overlooked when Tino Livramento withdrew from the squad, with Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah receiving the call-up instead.
